Elaborate security arrangements were made for the public meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) here at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday in which jubilant PTI supporters from across the country participated.
Five entry points were made for the entry of participants in the venue of the public meeting. The PTI activists also assisted police personnel in security arrangements. Floodlights, sound systems and thousands of chairs were put in place.
The police deputed over 2,000 cops for the security of participants of the PTI's public meeting. Seven superintendents of police (SPs) were assigned tasks related to the security. In addition, nine Elite Police Force vans along with highly trained staff were deputed to provide security cover to PTI Chairman Imran Khan. The security situation was also monitored by CCTV. The participants of the public meeting were carrying party flags and banners.
A big stage was set up in front of Minar-e-Pakistan where PTI's central leaders and parliamentarians addressed. Portraits of Imran Khan and other leaders were displayed at the venue. A large number of women and their families participated in the public meeting.
Talking to media, the PTI leader Azam Khan Swati said, "We are expecting an unprecedented crowd at Sunday's event. It's not an ordinary gathering; it's the gathering of those looking for a new Pakistan. He said this public meeting would set the future direction of the country's politics.
