People have been gradually started realizing that the alternative energy is the best solution to the load-shedding which has increased demand of solar panels sharply in the city as mercury is soaring and people see no respite in load-shedding in coming days.
There are houses in DHA and scheme 33 which run entirely on solar power. They install 10 solar photovoltaic panels with an installed capacity of 2.8 KW that supply their home with enough energy in the daytime to run even an air conditioner, light bulbs, a refrigerator and a few other household appliances.
Talking to Business Recorder they said solar does not fulfil all our needs, but it takes care of about 60 percent of our electricity needs. "There's a schedule for everything and we make sure that appliances such as water pump and the iron aren't switched on at the same time."
Another person said he has invested his savings purchasing a solar penal to energize one room of his house. He said now his family and children can easily spend hot noon hours under a ceiling fan and they are no more worried about load shedding. He urged the commercial banks for giving soft loans to low-income people like him to purchase solar panels for homes.
Large number of people is purchasing solar panels daily for their homes, shops and workplaces, as load shedding in localities of working class people is unbearable in the city, shop owners claimed.
When one returns home after hours of hard work, it causes a lot of pain and anguish to find that the electricity is out, said a dealer. In such condition people who can afford can't resist buying one.
The federal and provincial governments can launch big schemes to provide small solar systems for their homes on easy instalments or hire-purchase basis. The commercial banks could also enter the arena as future surely belongs to renewable energy, shopkeepers proposed.
