Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday inaugurated new coaches of Khyber Mail at Rawalpindi Railway Station. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the addition of new coaches is part of an up-gradation program of Pakistan Railways initiated by the incumbent government. He said that more coaches will be added to trains next month.
The Khyber Mail plies between Peshawar and Karachi. It consists of four rakes and every rake comprises 16 coaches. The first rake of Khyber Mail has been upgraded and improved for passenger amenities. The rake consists of six economy, three AC business, one AC standard, one ACC sleeper, one dinning car, one postal van, one military courier, one luggage van and one power van.
The minister said the PML-N government since its inception has been working to bring improvement in Pakistan Railways. Rafique said railways revenue has risen up to Rs 50 billion while losses increased by Rs 3 billion. He further said that federal government, not Pakistan Railways, controls the employees' pension matters. Next government should continue focusing railways for improvements, he wished.
