The heavily-guarded federal capital witnessed a significant increase in street crimes during the last week and citizens lost valuables worth millions of rupees. According to data gathered through registered first information reports (FIRs) here on Saturday, over 12 cases of street crimes, six cases of auto theft, three cases of kidnapping and one murder case were reported to various police stations of the city during the last week.
Lohi Bher police station topped the list of crimes and registered four cases, followed by Karachi Company police station with three cases, while Bhara Kahu and Aabpara police station registered two cases each. Lohi Bher police station registered three cases of robbery and one case of murder during the last week. One Sajjad Hussain filed a complaint with Lohi Bher police station that accused Sameer Rehman and others stole gold ornaments and other valuables from his house.
In another incident, Muhammad Ahsan filed a complaint with the same police station that unidentified persons stole jewellery and local as well as foreign currency from his house. Similarly, some unknown bandits stormed into the house of one Ahmad located in the jurisdiction of Lohi Bher police station and looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables. The police recovered a dead body of unknown person from the limits of Lohi Bher police station.
Karachi Company police station registered two cases of robbery and one case of motor vehicle theft during the week under review. One Muhammad Imran filed a complaint with Karachi Company police station that unknown robbers had stolen cash, gold ornaments and a cellphone from his house. Another Muhammad Attique filed a complaint with Karachi Company police station that unidentified persons stole cash from his house. The thieves stole a bike bearing registration number GAL-322 of one Awais Ahmad.
Similarly, Aabpara police station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft. One Asif Iqbal informed Aabpara police station that unknown robbers had stolen prize bonds, cash and gold ornaments from his house. Separately, the thieves also had stolen a bike (RIK-955) of Muhammad Arsalan Khan.
Bhara Kahu police station registered one case each of auto theft and kidnapping. The auto thieves had stolen a bike bearing registration number RIY-6641 of Muhammad Asim. In another incident, Muhammad Waseem filed a complaint with Bhara Kahu police station that the accused Waseem Ali had kidnapped his wife.
