Carjacking cases on the rise in Islamabad

Auto thieves rule the roost in the federal capital as they stole over 14 vehicles, including bikes, during the last week. According to the data gathered by Business Recorder through registered first information reports (FIRs), various police stations of the city registered 14 cases of auto theft, eight cases of various other kinds of theft and two cases of kidnapping.
The most "favourite" areas for criminal gangs were within the limits of Sabzi Mandi, Koral, Bhara Kahu, Ramana and Khanna police stations during the last week. During the last week, Sabzi Mandi police station registered two cases of car lifting and one case of kidnapping. Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number FG-5596 of Hidayat Ullah and lifted another bike bearing registration number ARP-779 of Zain Ali from the limits of Secretariat police station.
Yasmeen Bibi lodged a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police station that accused Ishrat Bibi and others kidnapped her daughter. Koral police station registered three cases each of robbery, auto theft and kidnapping. Ahtisham Ahmad informed Koral police station that four unknown persons booked his car (S-7935) on rent and snatched cash and mobile phone from him at gunpoint.
Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number AEN-90 of Ali. Muhammad Usman informed Koral police station that the accused Zafar Iqbal kidnapped his sister. During the period under review, Khanna police registered one case each of auto theft and robbery. Motor vehicle thieves stole a bike bearing registration number L-7662 of Usman Khalik. Another Habibi Ahamd lodged a complaint with Khanna police station that accused Nazim Hussain, Hamid Hussain and Israr booked his car bearing registration number LRZ- 2100 on rent and snatched mobile phone and cash at gunpoint from at service road of Margalla Town.
In the same period Bhara Kahu police station registered two cases of auto theft. Motor vehicle thieves stole a bike LOU-2132 of Mima Papara and also lifted a pickup. During the last week Ramana police station also registered two cases of carjacking. Auto thieves stole a jeep bearing registration number IGB-3320 of Muhammad Khalid and lifted a car bearing registration number RZ-533 of Irshad.
