The lady health workers (LHW) Friday ended their five-day long protest at The Mall after the government accepted their demands. The protesting LHWs had earlier warned of stopping the metro bus service if a notification for their service structure is not issued. A spokesperson of the workers announced to end their strike, stating their demands had been accepted by the government and a notification of the same had been issued.
The health workers struggled for five days by staging protest on The Mall. The protesting LHWs misbehaved with people during their protest. The protest has disrupted traffic in Lahore as the protesters had occupied the main thoroughfare of the city.
The sit-in near Chairing Cross has also polluted the area with trash all around that the protesters have been clearing and burning on their own. Earlier in the day, the Lahore High Court ordered the home secretary to clear the sit-in and submit a report on the matter by April 2. Following the protest, the government allowed the release of arrears of LHWs worth Rs 1.2 billion.
The shopkeepers on The Mall had a sigh of relief over the end of protest. They were of the view that the government should adopt a mechanism to put an end to protest on The Mall.
