Ocean Pakistan Limited (OPL) Friday inaugurated a project namely 'Commercial & Financial Viable Agro/Forest Base Entrepreneur' in Jand, Attock district, in collaboration with a renowned NGO 'Help In Need.' The project has been launched as a part of celebrations in connection with International Day of Forests.
Designmena National Consulting, a firm which has vast experience in working on many water development and similar forest projects in various parts of Pakistan, will provide technical support to this project.
Objectives of the project are to maintain good relationship with local community & government departments, contributing in one of the most important Sustainable Development Goals. The project will facilitate in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and social benefits for approximately 100 to 125 families in the first year of the project. This number will increase in the coming years.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by local farmers/notables, OPL management, Help in Need (NGO) management, technical expert from the Designmen and representative from Forest Department.
The CEO OPL while talking to local farmers emphasized on the importance of sustainable development and assured that OPL is willing to invest more in the area; however, it is important that development work should be participatory.
While talking about the vision and dream of the board of Hashoo Group, Kamran Ahmad said President OPL Hasan Hashwani would like to contribute in the projects which will help in improving lives of the local people. The COO OPL while talking with the locals reiterated that OPL believes in working relationship.
Humera Malik, Manager CSR Community, while talking about sustainable development emphasized on coordination and cooperation among all concerned government departments, NGO, funding agencies and OPL. She added this project will give opportunity to locals to create healthy environment and sustainable opportunities for livelihood for the families. She shared that OPL is planning to share this project with other oil and gas companies.
