Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly reacted to Fauzia Kasuri's diatribe against the party, saying her venom against the party is because she was denied a Senate ticket in the recently held elections. Kasuri, a senior PTI leader, has been moving from pillar to get some position within the party after it emerged as a mainstream political party in 2013 general election, but she was never accommodated by the party. Kasuri had quit the party over claims of 'unjust' distribution of party tickets on reserved seats when she was not given a seat. She had also claimed that she was ignored by the PTI for its choices in reserved seats for women.
This time again, in an op-ed to local newspaper, she severely criticized the party, which forced the party to issue a clarification, saying the criticism by Kasuri is nothing but her desire to become a "senator by hook or by crook". In a statement issued here, PTI MNA Munazza Hassan said that Kasuri started criticizing the part after her request for a Senate seat was turned down by the party as she did not belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
"The venom of Kasuri is because she wanted to become a senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa despite knowing that she belongs to Punjab...she was denied a ticket for Senate and now she is out to criticize the party," she said. She further said that Kasuri had track record of staging a similar drama when she was not accommodated on seats reserved for women in National Assembly back in 2013.
"If this is called loyalty with the party, what can I say...the PTI is the best party when you are given a position and if your request is turned down for genuine reasons, PTI is the worse party," lamented Hassan.
Hassan also said that Kasuri was never in 126-day historic anti-government sit-in by the party back in 2014, but she has always been in the forefront, begging for a seat in the National Assembly and the Senate. "This criticism by Fauzai Kasuri is nothing but her frustration to become MNA or a senator, no matter what," she added.
