The Karachi Port handled 131,368 tonnes of cargo comprising 78,144 tonnes of import cargo and 53,224 tonnes of export cargo including 7,839 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 78,144 tonnes comprised of 50,183 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10 tonnes of general cargo; 10,100 tonnes of coke and 17,851 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 53,224 tonnes comprised of 53,024 tonnes of containerised cargo and 200 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 7,839 containers comprising of 3,368 containers import and 4,471 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,020 of 20's and 1,096 of 40's loaded while 40 of 20's and 58 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,293 of 20's and 437 of 40's loaded containers while 380 of 20's and 962 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely MSC Mila-3, MT Shalamar, Al-Safa and Sun Ploeg chemical carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. MSC Mila-3, APL Antwerp, Maliakos, Nord Larkspur and Chemroute Pegasus carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely Polo and Challenger carrying containers and coke respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while one ship namely Maribor carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday.
There were two vessels viz. MOL Explorer and Oriental Lotus carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while nine vessels viz. Prosper, Northern Dedication, Ever Unique, OOCL Busan, MT Lahore, Ariane Makara, Nave Polaris, Butinah and Da Kang carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
A cargo volume of 140,559 tonnes comprising 74,441 tonnes of import cargo and 66,118 tonnes of export cargo including 3,149 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 74,441 tonnes includes 29,400 tonnes of LNG; 11,013 tonnes of palm oil; 9,792 tonnes of canola seeds; 16,800 tonnes of coal; 64 tonnes of project cargo and 7,372 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 66,118 tonnes includes 13,659 tonnes of cement and 52,459 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,149 containers comprising of 388 containers import and 2,761 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely CV APL Miami carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV APL Miami, MV Cerulean, MV Beks Cenk, MV Johanna Oldendroff, MV BW Hazel, MT Al-Gattara and MT Chemroad Hope were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, cement, canola seeds, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely MV DA Liang, MV Daphane, MT Star Sirious, MT Khor Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Lion-M, MT Brizo, MT Constantinos, MT Glorious and MT Navicosmos carrying general cargo, canola seeds, LNG, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were two vessels viz. CV Prosper and MT Maran Gas Sparta carrying containers and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Energy Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were four ships namely CV CMA CGM Indus, CV Prosper, MT Maran Gas Sparta and MT Quetta carrying containers, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Blue Whale, CV GH Chinook and CV Express Rome Maersk, carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday.
