Cold, dry weather forecast

A continuing rainy spell is likely to last until next Wednesday with gripping mostly upper parts of the country. The Met Office on Monday forecast that isolated rain-thunderstorm with a light snowfall over the hills is expected at places in Malakand and Hazara Divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan in the next 24 hours.
It said that a fresh westerly wave that has entered the western parts of Pakistan last Sunday is likely to grip upcountry will prevail over northern areas until next Wednesday. Scattered rain-thunderstorm is likely to fall in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Quetta and Zhob Divisions, besides FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. While isolated falls are expected in Bannu, Peshawar, Kohat, Kalat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Sargodha Divisions and Islamabad also on Tuesday.
Snowfall is also expected in Malakand Division, Gallyat, Naran, Kaghan, Murree, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan over the period. Kalam received three inches of snowfall over the past 24 hours, it said. Minimum temperature in Skardu was minus 7 degrees Celsius, Gupis and Kalat minus 4, each, Parachinar and Rawalkot minus 3, each, Astore and Kalam minus 2, each. Maximum rain fell in Kalam as 8 mm, Dir 4mm, Chitral 3mm, Pattan 2mm and Drosh 1mm over the past.
In the next 24 hours: Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country. Dense fog is likely to grip plains of Punjab and Upper Sindh during morning and night hours.
