Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam Samiul Haq (JUI-S) provincial Ameer, Maulana Yousaf Shah has urged the federal government and all the political parties to shun their political differences and promote unity in order to evolve consensus on the timely merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) into KP.
He was addressing at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Friday, wherein a group of tribal elders hailing from North Waziristan headed by a social activist, Malik Qismat Khan formally announced to join JUI-S. He said the federal government was depriving millions of Fata people of their rights to appease its two allies.
He urged the political parties to stop political scoring on Fata and should chalk out the future course of action, so as their lingering deprivation could be diminished. He termed Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR), a black law and called for measures for its early replacement.
JUI-S provincial chief said the Parliament formed a committee for reforms in Fata headed by Sartaj Aziz which visited all parts of Fata after which the tribal population and political parties agreed on the formula of merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the JUI-S also supports abolition of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and merger of Fata with KP. He demanded the government to bring Fata into the national mainstream without further delay. With regard to a question regarding the restoration of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), he said that the MMA could be restored in real sense, provided all the religious parties shun their political differences and vested interests and work in liaison to forge an alliance to make Pakistan an Islamic state.
