The city court on Friday adjourned the hearing of a petition seeking registration of a treason case against former premier Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Minister Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and others to January 20.
President Armaan Welfare Foundation Amna Malik through her counsel Azher Siddique contended that the recent interview of Saad Rafique in which he targeted a national institution amounts to treason. He said Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal and Rana Sanaullah are also part of this conspiracy.
She approached the CCPO office to file the application but his office refused to initiate any proceedings against accused persons. She therefore prayed the court to direct the respondent police to register a treason case against Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Maryum Safdar, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal and Rana Sanaullah allegedly involved in the conspiracy.
