Over 4.3million children below age of five, will be administrated drops as the three day anti-polio drive in high-risk districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will begin today (Monday). According to Emergency Operation Centre, more than 4.3million children, including 40,086 Afghan refugees children under age of five will be vaccinated during the immunization campaign.
Officials said that a total 13,704 teams have constituted, including 11,690 mobile, 1074 fixed and 208 roaming teams to ensure the achievement of cent percent targets of the drive, whereas 732 transits points have also been set up at various places to ensure polio drops to children on travel.
They further said performance of the polio teams will be monitored under supervision of area incharge. It was informed that a comprehensive security plan has been chalked out for the protection of polio teams in the province. The meeting said more than 20,000 police personnel would be deputed on duties during the three day anti-polio drive.
On the occasion, EOC Atif Rehman while reiterating his government's commitment to eradicate poliovirus from the province directed the authorities to utilise all the available resources to ensure cent percent results of the campaign.
He further directed the authorities to pay special attention to the areas where refusal cases are reported and asked them to visit such areas personally and involve the local elected representatives and Ulemas to convince the parents to get their children immunized against the poliovirus.
