The Karachi Port handled 141,650 tonnes of cargo comprising 127,844 tonnes of import cargo and 13,806 tonnes of export cargo including 6,182 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 127,844 tonnes comprised of 53,074 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,138 tonnes of general cargo; 10,396 tonnes of fertilizer and 56,236 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,806 tonnes comprised of 13,806 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 6,182 containers comprising of 3,662 containers import and 2,520 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,256 of 20's and 1,202 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 300 of 20's and 336 of 40's loaded containers while 364 of 20's and 592 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Maribor, Northern Dependant, Tokomaru Bay and Thunder Bird carrying containers, DAP and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. OOCL America, Piraeus, Kota Kaya, ER Tianshan and Glory Trader carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Kota Kaya carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Piraeus and MT Lahore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday. There were four vessels Maliakos, MOL Emerald, Bow Palladium and Bertina carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while two vessels viz. Maritime Longevity and Chang Hang Ze Hai carrying coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total export cargo of 13,872 tonnes includes 4,828 tonnes of rice and 9,044 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 5,210 containers comprising of 4,734 containers import and 476 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were two ships namely MV Majestic Sky and MT Golar Kelvin carrying soyabean and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Bentonville carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV APL Charleston, CV Maersk Atlantic, CV Maersk Bentonville, MV Marvel, MV Unity Discovery, MV Trade Will, MV Majestic Sky, MV Black Pearl, MV Golar Kevin, MT Lion-M and Chemroad Orsis currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, sunflower seeds, soyabean seeds, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely MV Thunder Bird, MV Medi Chiba, MV Sakzaya Miracle, MV Diyaa-B, MV African Arrow, MV Satumus, MV Kosman, MV Kiran Caribbean, MV JS Green Star, MT Khor Gas, MT Al-Safiya, MT Quetta, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Fortune Era carrying project cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, clinker, steel coil, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. MV Medi Chiba, MV Kiran Caribbean, MV JS Green Star, MT Khor Gas and MT Al-Safiya carrying soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Energy Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were seven ships namely CV Prosper, CV San Francisco, CV Mehun, CV Virgo, CV Navios Verano, MT Bahra and MT Chemroad Sea carrying containers, diesel oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
