Cold, dry weather to persist

Published November 19, 2017 Updated November 19, 2017 12:00am

Temperature dropped to below zero, as cold and dry weather continues to frost parts of the upcountry, the Met Office said on Saturday. It also asked the farmers to plow their lands after the recent rains for the Rabi crops. It said that the plowing of fields will help preserve the subsoil dampness for the next cultivation of crops. Kalat was the coldest places in the country where temperature plunged to minus five degrees Celsius followed by Quetta minus two, Skardu and Malamjabba minus one, each, over the past 24 hours.
In the next 24 hours mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country. More isolated rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is likely in parts of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Over the past 24 hours isolated rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills occurred in parts of Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala Divisions, besides, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Elsewhere in the country, cold and dry weather persisted.
Maximum rainfall was recorded in Muzaffarabad 14 mm, Rawalakot 9 mm, Garhi Dupatta 8 mm, Malamjabba 5 mm, Balakot 4 mm, Gujrat 3 mm, Bannu and Kotli 2 mm, each, Gujranwala, Murree, Sialkot Airport and Gupis 1 mm.
