Chief Conservator Wildlife, Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has notified procedure for shooting of partridges during 2017-18 season. The procedure has been notified in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 55 (b) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife and Biodiversity (protection, preservation, conservation and management) Act, 2015.
Under the procedure, shooting of partridges including See-see partridges, Black partridges, Grey partridges and Chakur partridges will be permissible in the province with effect from Sunday 26th November, 2017 till Sunday 4th February, 2018. Hunting shall not be allowed in protected areas except game reserves, private game reserves and community game reserves.
Hunting shall be permissible only on Sundays and gazetted holidays. Hunting in game reserves shall be permissible only under a special permit to be granted by the Chief Conservator Wildlife Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as per rules. The partridge's population in the game reserves will be regularly monitored and issuance of special permit will be stopped as soon as it is deemed appropriate; maximum bag limit shall not exceed five birds of all species of partridges combined per gun per day.
Value of property equal to Rs 1200 will be charged for each bird shot in excess to bag limit besides compensation as per rules; maximum two hunting parties (not more than 5 guns in a party) shall be allowed in a game reserve/unit on a single hunting day. Hunting in community game reserves will be permissible only after due consent of the concerned Village Conservation Committee (VCC) while hunting in private game reserves will be permissible only after due consent of the concerned owner of the private game reserves.
The notification said that special permit fee once deposited will not be refundable and no special permit will be issued to any person unless he holds a valid shooting license. Similarly, permit for hunting in more than one game reserve or unit of reserve on a single day.
Following fee will be charged for various licenses/special permits during 2017-18 shooting season until otherwise revised. Small game shooting license is Rs 2000 per annum, special permit for shooting in a game reserve Rs 3000 per day, possession of license for a dog Rs 1000 per annum. 90 percent of the fee realized from special permits for shooting in game reserves will be paid to the local communities. The respective community will utilize the revenue so generated on conservation and development works. The remaining 10 percent fee will go to revenue head of the department.
