The Karachi Port handled 187,762 tonnes of cargo comprising 141,684 tonnes of import cargo and 46,078 tonnes of export cargo including 5,706 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 141,684 tonnes comprised of 54,026 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12 tonnes of general cargo; 41,461 tonnes of bulk cargo: 23,500 tonnes of coal; 4,060 tonnes of rock phosphate; 13,901 tonnes of fertilizer and 46,185 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,078 tonnes comprised of 37,178 tonnes of containerised cargo and 8,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,706 containers comprising of 3,263 containers import and 2,443 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,678 of 20's and 740 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 51 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,089 of 20's and 312 of 40's loaded containers while 278 of 20's and 226 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Northern Dependant, MSC Maria Laura, Magnolia, Heilan Brother and Symphony carrying containers, DAP, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. MOL Eminence, Sima Giselle, MSC Maria Laura, MT Lahore, Zante and Butinah carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely MOL Eminence, Hansa Neuburg and OOCL Shanghai carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely Sima Giselle, Nord Larkspur, Shandong Hai Sheng and Penelope-L carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Friday. There were five vessels APL Antwerp, Hansa Neuburg, Chemical Aquarius, BW Amazon and Kong Que Zuo carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while seven vessels viz. APL Norway, Ever Unique, Al Abdali, Luebeck, Gennaro Ievoli, CPO Malaysia and As Orelia carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 129,268 tonnes comprising 103,276 tonnes of import cargo and 25,992 tonnes of export cargo including 1,477 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 103,276 tonnes includes 40,101 tonnes of diesel oil; 22,517 tonnes of palm oil; 12,500 tonnes of LNG; 7,862 tonnes of canola seeds; 12,000 tonnes of coal; 6,225 tonnes of chemical and 2,071 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,992 tonnes includes 25,992 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,477 containers comprising of 109 containers import and 1,368 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were four ships namely CV CSAV Tyndall, MV Chembull Dog, MT Al Jassasiya and MT Pavino Spirit carrying containers, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MT Chemroad Wing carrying palm oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV CSAV Tyndall, MV Trade Will, MV Yasa Aysen, MV Sakizaya Elegance, MV Chembull Dog, MT Al Jassasiya, MT Pavino Spirit, MT Chemroad Wing and MT Maritime Lira currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, sunflower seeds, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as eleven ships namely MV Majestic Sky, MV Magia, MV Diyaa-B, MT King Craft, MT Sea Speed, MT Lion-M, MT Maistro, MT Mezaira, MT Bahra, MT Yukon Star and MT Bunga Angsana carrying soyabean seeds, coal, clinker, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Mataquitto, MV King Craft and MT Bahra carrying containers, LPG and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were five ships namely CV Mataquitto CV APL Norway, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Kilma and MV Thetis carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are three ships namely CV GH Chriook, CV Torrento and CV Prosper carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
