BEIJING: China's trade surplus widened to $27.28 billion in January as imports plunged more than 15 percent from a year earlier, official data showed Friday.
The politically sensitive trade surplus was much higher than December's $16.52 billion, but analysts have cautioned that January data have been distorted by the earlier-than-usual Chinese Lunar New Year holiday this year.
