The lawyers of model Ayyan Ali challenged on Saturday the non-bailable arrest warrants issued for her by a customs court in the money laundering case against her.

During the hearing today, Ali's counsels, Barrister Sarfraz Maito and Iftikhar Bajwa, who have replaced Latif Khosa, argued that their client had been issued non-bailable arrest warrants despite their submission of a sick leave and medical certificates.

According to local media reports, the counsels also assured the judge that Ali, who is currently in Dubai and has been missing all her hearings, would appear at the next one. The court has set the next hearing for December 8. The court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Ali on October 6.

Ali, who has kept mum about her case, finally opened up last week about her case and what went down the day she was arrested from the airport in Islamabad over money laundering charges.

In an Instagram story post, the model said she is done taking all the accusations. She asked why were the personal assistant for former President Asif Ali Zardari and Rehman Malik’s brother not investigated even though they were there in the airport.

The model was caught back in 2015 at Benazir Bhutto International Airport with $506,800 in cash, which she was allegedly laundering to United Arab Emirates. However, after spending around four months in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, she was granted bail after which she traveled abroad.
