K-Electric asked the director of schools and education on Tuesday to clear the schools' outstanding power dues of over Rs 200 million. Power disconnected in some examination centres because of non-payment of dues has been temporarily restored, according to a K-Electric spokesman. The company will ensure regular supply of power to examination centres where matriculation examinations are underway, he said, adding that its teams will remain on standby to correct any fault occurs at any of the examination centres.
However, notices have been issued to the director of schools and education to have the dues of Rs 200 million cleared, the spokesman said. The highest load shedding in Karachi is 7.5 hours, mostly confined to areas with a greater ratio of electricity theft, he said. But according to him, 61 percent of the city is free of load shedding. He advised consumers to dial 118 or 021-99000 in case of any faults or suspension of power.
