The Punjab government has constituted a District Monitoring Committee in order to monitor the campaign for eradication of wall chalking and inhibition of pasting of posters. Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani would be convener of this committee while DPO/CPO, Chief Officer and representative of Special Branch have been included as members.
According to the notification issued in this regard, that this committee shall constitute a dedicated force comprising representatives from all stake holder departments/offices for effective enforcement and implementation of the campaign against wall chalking. Moreover, the district judges, session judges and district prosecutor would be apprised regarding the anti wall chalking campaign and be requested for early disposal of pending cases relating to the offence of wall chalking.
The committee shall also hold meetings with the elected representatives, local bar association, Anjuman Tajran, owners of printing presses, local painters, representatives of civil society, local media and others to apprise them about the sensitivity of the matter and to take them on board for successful implementation of the anti wall chalking campaign.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani has directed the stake holder departments to launch vigorous operation against wall chalking and pasting of posters in the district. He ordered that all kinds of wall chalking should immediately be removed and progress report be sent in his office in this regard. He warned that action would be taken against the concerned staff in case of any complaint of wall chalking in the district.
