Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafiq has directed to run the Children Hospital and Ghulam Muhammadabad General Hospital Faisalabad at their full capacity to reduce the patients load on other hospitals. He said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is always ready to provide extra funds and new posts of doctors for the hospitals. He said that the basic purpose of health sector development is to ensure best healthcare services to the patients.
He said this while presiding over a video linked meeting to review the progress on the development scheme of teaching hospitals of Faisalabad, here on Thursday.
The meeting reviewed the development schemes, recruitment of the doctors and the staff according to the approved SNEs, procurement of medical equipment and CT Scan machine of children hospital and Ghulam Muhammadabad General Hospital Faisalabad.
Besides Principal Punjab Medical College Professor Farid Zafar, Additional Secretary Health Admn Raja Mansoor, Addl. Secretary (Tech) Dr Salman Shahid, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Procurement Specialist Tayyab Fareed, Director Internal Audit Sarfraz Ahmad, officers of Budget & Accounts, MS Allied Hospital, MS Children Hospital, MS Ghulam Muhammadabad General Hospital (GMGH) Faisalabad and officers of Communication & Works Department attended the meeting.
The Minister directed the AS (Admn) to complete recruitment on the approved posts of children hospital at earliest. Moreover, appointment orders should immediately be issued of those doctors whose interviews and other formalities have already been completed. Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti informed that the first phase of 200 beds of Children Hospital Faisalabad has been completed and government has provided additional funds of Rs 635 million for the hospital. Kh. Salman Rafiq revealed that when the Children Hospital Faisalabad fully functional, the load on Children Hospital Lahore would also be automatically reduced. He directed the Principal PMC to carry out third-party validation of newly installed HVAC system in the hospital. He also directed to remove the shortage of staff in GMGH Faisalabad for improving its performance.
Director Internal Audit Sarfraz Ahmad informed the Minister that Finance Department has approved SNE of 192 vacancies of GMGH Faisalabad. Sarfraz Ahmad asked the Principal to send the details of increase in admission so that the new posts could be created for the medical college according to the ratio of admissions enhancement. MS GMGH Faisalabad informed that CT scan is working round the clock whereas free medicines are being provided to the patients in emergency and indoor wards. He further informed that incinerator of the hospital is also catering the hospital waste load of Children hospital and THQ hospital Chak Jhumra. He said that the incinerator has capacity of 50kg per hour hospital waste.
He further informed that daily 2000 patient's visit in OPD of the hospital. MS Allied Hospital informed that OPD of the hospital is 3600 patients. MS Children Hospital informed that pre-qualification of firms has been completed for the procurement of CT scan machines which would cost Rs 143 million approximately. Moreover, purchase orders of medical equipment of Rs 225 million have also been placed.
Kh Salman Rafiq directed to accelerate the process of recruitment of human resource, procurement of medical equipment and its installation so that the people of Faisalabad region and other adjoining areas could get benefit from these health facilities.
