The Karachi Port handled 149,600 tonnes of cargo comprising 141,321 tonnes of import cargo and 8,279 tonnes of export cargo including 6,632 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 141,321 tonnes comprised of 21,809 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,995 tonnes of general cargo; 60,381 tonnes of bulk cargo: 56,521 tonnes of coal; 3,860 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 46,136 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 8,279 tonnes comprised of 8,279 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 6,632 containers comprising of 1,873 containers import and 4,759 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 483 of 20's and 633 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 62 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 4,192 of 20's and 170 of 40's loaded containers while 01 of 20's and 113 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Wan Hai-511, Prosper, MT Quetta, Patriot, Kiran China and Jin Hong carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. New Ark, Northern Dependant, YM Cypress, FPMC P Alpine, Green Phoenix, Arietta and Da Liang carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely New Ark, Polaris Melody and Han Li carrying containers, seeds and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely FPMC P Alpine, Torm Trinity and Draftslayer carrying oil tankers and coal respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were two vessels viz. MSC Positano and KSL Danyang carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while seven vessels viz. Kota Kaya, Maliakos, MOL Explorer, Havana, Gulf Glow-II, Ikan Senyur and Everrich-3 carrying containers, chemical, coal and spirit respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 78,166 tonnes includes 19,397 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,800 tonnes of palm oil; 550 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 1,262 tonnes of general cargo; 11,034 tonnes of chemical and 38,114 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 11,210 tonnes includes 11,210 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,596 containers comprising of 2,006 containers import and 590 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV MSC Messina and MV Pelagica carrying containers and project cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Al Rawadah and MV Chem Patriot carrying containers and phosphoric acid respectively are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Al Rawadah, CV MSC Albany, CV MSC Messina, MV Pelagica, MV Al Bahiya, MV Berlin, MV Chem Patriot, MT Chemroad Haya, MT Gas Chem Adriatic and MT Lahore currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, phosphoric acid, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV Maersk Denver, MV YM Miranda, MT Bneider, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT UASC Sound, MT Brizo, MT CH Zephyr and MT Bunga Angsana carrying containers, chemical, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were two vessels viz. CV Maersk Denver and MV YM Miranda carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
