President of Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Ismail Suttar has demanded of the K Electric's management to implement reduction in the tariff by Rs 3.50 per unit and notify it to the consumers without any delay. He said he has learned that NEPRA already announced tariff cut and this announcement. He said it was long-awaited decision in view of falling crude oil/gas prices in the international market.
"Citizens and industries of Karachi have been paying exorbitant electricity bills to the K-Electric for the last few years and due to high tariff, exporters are unable to compete in the international market," he said citing that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also desired lower tariff of electricity for all consumers and WAPDA was supplying electricity at lower tariff.
Suttar further said that all the trade and industrial bodies including FPCCI and chambers fully support the Prime Minister's vision for supply of electricity at affordable price throughout Pakistan. "Lower prices of electricity will help exporters compete in the world market and increase their exports," he said, adding that it would also help other consumers in the country.
