The nomination papers of all the 16 candidates, who filed for the by-election of PP-23 Chakwal, were declared correct by Returning Officer Shakeel Ahmed. The major contestants are Malik Shahryar Awan of PML (N) and PTI, JI and PML (Q) have fielded Colonel Sultan Surkhru from the platform of PTI.
The four candidates of PPP have also filed their nomination papers. The real fight is between Shahryar Awan (Tiger) and Colonel Sultan Surkhru (Bat).
The final list of the candidates will be displayed on 27th March with their election symbols and the polling date is 18th April.
All the arrangements to hold free and fair election are underway and it is likely that army and rangers will be called on the polling date. It will be a very close and keen contest between PML (N) and PTI.
