After completing the house listing, the head count has been started in the district in connection with Population Census. Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani inaugurated the head counting by entering the names of a family on the prescribed proforma in a local locality. Addl. Deputy Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Shahid, Director Local Govt. Rai Wajid Ali, AC City Bilawal Abru, Assistant Census Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad, other officers and staff of population census were present on the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner himself entered the names of a family members and other required information.
Talking to the newsmen the Deputy Commissioner said that the population census was an important national task which was being completed with co-ordinated strategy. He said that District administration was following comprehensive plan to assist the population census staff for ensuring the smooth and transparent process of population census. He informed that the staff had been imparted with quality training for filling the prescribed proforma of population census. He maintained that the entire district had been distributed in 5954 blocks and proper monitoring was being carried out to supervise the work of the staff. Deputy Commissioner said that control rooms at district and tehsil level were working to supervise the entire arrangements of population census besides holding regular meetings of the District Co-ordination Committee to reviewing the pace of work and redressal of issues. He said that the co-operation of the citizens was vital for collecting credible data which would help in comprehensive national planning for bright future of the nation.
The Assistant Census Commissioner informed that population census would be completed in the district by 27th March and 28th March had been fixed for the count of homeless people. He told that the two hours timings of the population census had been increased and now work would continue from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm.
