Provincial Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani said on Monday that public sector colleges have already been directed to implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) of their security and informed that they are also being inspected upon to check their security arrangements. He was talking to media after addressing the annual sports day at Government Postgraduate College for Women, Raiwind on Monday.
To another questions, he said that similar SOPs have been issued for all the colleges in the province and no compromise would be made on security. Earlier, while addressing the ceremony Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said that sports events would be held twice every year in public sector colleges in the province. In this regard, necessary instructions have been issued to the divisional directors, he added.
The purpose is to promote the passions of sportsman-spirit, leadership as well as positive social norms in the youth so that they could be developed as best human beings. Minister also said that sports grounds should remain filled with the youth; because when grounds will be full, then hospitals would be deserted. He informed that a detailed departmental roadmap has been chalked-out in consultation with the 721 colleges' administration to provide necessary missing facilities at the earliest; and informed that their suggestions would be included in the upcoming development budget of the higher education department for the financial year 2017-18.
The Chief Minister Punjab has a clear vision to make Pakistan stronger through education-promotion; and this vision was being fully implemented by the higher education department, because higher education is the backbone of every sector, including the economy, maintained the minister. The teachers must also help students connect with the world and understand the issues that practical world faces. He asked the teachers to sensitise their students about Islamic teachings of character building so as to develop their girl-students as best mothers and team-players in their future life. Raza Gillani made it clear that Pakistanis are the bravest nation in the world, who are not afraid of death, and vowed that no incident of terrorism can deter our passion of sacrifice for our motherland.
