Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has expressed apprehension over the deteriorating relations with neighbouring Afghanistan, saying that that the foreign policy of the country need to be revisited in order to achieve sustainable and enduring peace in the region.
The QWP chief went on to say that that the closure of border between Pakistan and Afghanistan is causing trade losses to common citizens across the border. He added that both the countries need to undertake confidence building measures (CBM) in order to reduce the trust deficit among both the nations. While addressing the press conference, here at Watan Kor, in which Saeed Khan from Shabqadar announced joining QWP along with his followers, Sherpao also stressed on the need to use diplomatic channels to develop mutual understanding between both the countries. Additionally cultural, student and similar exchange programmes should be held in order to develop an understanding between citizens of both the countries. The chairman also urged that possibilities should be explored by both the countries to hold joint operation against terrorists in both the countries. QWP chairman also stated that the merger of Fata and KP will not only make KP the second largest province of the country, but will also be helpful in reducing militancy in the country.
