Vice Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday said that Thar Desert area of Sindh lacks basic facilities of life and it needs special development. Addressing a press conference at Insaf House after his return from a six-day visit of Thar, Mehmood said he has visited every village of Thar, meet common people and gathered information from them about their problems and issues.
He thanked the Hur Jamaat, Sarwari Jamaat, Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Asad Junejo and other leaders who had instructed their disciples and workers to accord him a warm welcome. He said with the family of Pir Pagara they had old relations spanning to generations.
He said politically, Pir Pagara has his own platform and he has his own political reputation. He said he thanks all these leaders who were kind enough on him during his recent visit. He also thanked the Hindu community who invited him to their temple on the occasion of their festival of the Shiv Retteri. He said in Umerkot and Thar, Hindus and Muslims live with peace and love.
He said the Hindus of Pakistan are patriotic people and they are even better Pakistanis than him. He said in the month of March, he would again visit Sindh. He said he would brief PTI Chairman Imran Khan about the results of the recent visit.
He said the political power of the PPP in Sindh should be accepted by all. He said it is right of every political party to indulge in politicking. He said the PPP knows how to attract different people. However, he said that an overloaded boat has finally to sink. He said the PPP has announced to conduct an all parties conference on the issue of the military courts. He said they would consult with their party to attend it or not. He said the operation Zarb e Azab was successful and the personnel of law enforcing forces rendered a lot of sacrifices in it, but the government could not continue it.
He said everyone knows why we needed the military courts. He said that after the 21st amendment, the government got ample time of two years and it could have done a lot during this time, but the people know what the government did. He asked when all political parties were on the same page, why the government failed to take decisive steps during these two years.
He said after the Peshawar tragedy, we ended our sit-in in the greater interest of the nation and country. He said had the government given special powers to rangers in Punjab province many sad incident could have been avoided.
He said Sehwan was the constituency of the chief minister of Sindh, but for three days no compensation was announced for the martyrs. He said many people told him that some injured were so poor that they could not even buy a water bottle. No one had mercy on these poor injured.
He said after a long debate consensus was made on the 21st amendment. He said the sitting government without consulting to anyone changed the draft about the military court and no one was taken in confidence. He said before taking such decisions the interests of the common man should be kept in mind.
