The Karachi Port handled 188,239 tonnes of cargo comprising 141,186 tonnes of import cargo and 47,053 tonnes of export cargo including 4,010 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 141,186 tonnes comprised of 26,960 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,369 tonnes of general cargo; 28,595 tonnes of coal and 78,262 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,053 tonnes comprised of 20,690 tonnes of containerised cargo; 275 tonnes of general cargo; 16,088 tonnes of bulk cargo: 8,928 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 7,160 tonnes of iron powder and 10,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,010 containers comprising of 1,732 containers import and 2,278 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 716 of 20's and 504 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 04 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 579 of 20's and 244 of 40's loaded containers while 333 of 20's and 439 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were six ships namely Kota Kaya, KMTC Mumbai, APL Atlanta, Dl Violet, KSL Fuyang and Kong Que Song carrying containers, chemical, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were two vessels viz. Cosco Sao Paulo and Eastern Light carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely High Beam and MT Quetta, carrying oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Mare Tracer carrying coal is expected to sail on Saturday. There is one ship namely YM Excellence carrying containers expected to sail on Sunday.
There were six vessels viz. Maersk Stepnica, Al Farahidi, Oriental Protea, Selin D, IVS Windsor and Africa Star carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday, while seven vessels viz. APL Japan, Prosper, Seto Cloria, N Mars, CTG Bismuth, Ever Win and Chong Ming carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas, chemical, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 123,336 tonnes comprising 84,671 tonnes of import cargo and 38,665 tonnes of export cargo including 3,996 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 84,671 tonnes includes 18,800 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,700 tonnes of palm oil; 1,330 tonnes of LPG; 7,857 tonnes of chemical; l0,725 tonnes of canola seeds and 37,259 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 38,665 tonnes includes 38,665 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,996 containers comprising of 1,961 containers import and 2,035 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely MT Chemroad Mega carrying edible oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely CV Mehuin and CV Maersk Stepnica carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Mehuin, CV APL Charleston, CV Maersk Stepnica, MV Marco, MT Nordic Gas, MT Ashanda and MT Chemroad Mega currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, LPG, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV San Francisco, MV Arika Schulte, MV Gaschem Antartic, MT Maria-III, MT Karachi, MT Pacific Energy, MT Harmony-1, MT Super Eastern and Bunga Akasa carrying containers, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV San Francisco, CV Hansa America and MT Super Eastern carrying containers and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. There were four ships namely CV Maersk Hartford, CV Hansa America, CV MSC Silvana and MV Chance carrying containers and soyabean seeds respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV TG Posiedon and CV TBA carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CV Newark carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday.
