Pakistan Standard & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has launched a crackdown against the sub-standard and uncertified manufacturers of bottled water and in this connection two manufacturing units have been sealed with immediate effect.
Mr. Zaka Ullah Khan Assistant Director Pakistan Standard and Quality Control Authority told that on the special directive of Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Science and Technology, and Mr. Fazal Abbas Maikan, Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology/Chairmen PSQCA, this ruthless crackdown has been started in Faisalabad region. The teams of PSQCA are conducting raids in various parts of the region and have sealed CSP group and Uzair Enterprises. These units were manufacturing and marketing bottled water under the brand names of FAYHA and AIWA pure.
He has warned the manufacturers of bottled water to get registration for their products and furnish a NOC as required under the rules and regulations of PSQCA, regarding the sealed units. He said that these units will have to produce a certificate from the authorised laboratory that their products are fit for human consumption. These units would be allowed to start their operation only on the production of this certificate, he added.
