A spokesman for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, Mushtaq Ghani, vowed on Friday that rights of the people sacrificing their properties for the sake of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) routes would be protected. "CPEC is an important project and those who are sacrificing their property would be compensated, according to the law," he added.
He was presiding over a meeting held for payment of compensation to the affected people as well as to review progress made, so far, on the Murree Road's dualization project at the Commissioner House, Abbotabad. He directed Abbotabad district administration and National Highway Authority (NHA) to cooperate with the affected people and protect their rights as much as possible.
Ghani asked the affected people to work with officials of the revenue department in determining estimated cost of their properties. He directed the concerned authorities to reopen cases if there is reservations on the part of affected people vis-à-vis their compensation amount and advised the affected people to remain in contact with Abbotabad's assistant commissioner in this regard.
The spokesman also directed WAPDA to remove its installations on the Murree Road dulization project at the earliest and asked NHA and Communication and Works departments to complete construction work on the war-footing basis so that the problems of commuters and those living in its vicinity could be resolved without any further delay.
