The Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Co-ordination (IPC) has directed the Ministry of IPC to take over entire system of youth exchange programme and select candidates purely on merit. The committee met with Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan in the chair in Committee Room of Pakistan Sports Board, Sport Complex, Islamabad, on Monday. The committee discussed Youth Exchange Programme (external), Pakistan Boy Scouts Guide Association and Pakistan Girl Guide Association.
The committee after detailed discussion directed the Ministry of IPC to take over entire system of youth exchange programme and select candidates purely on merit. In the youth exchange programme, females may also be given due representation. Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada apprised the committee of aims, objectives and functions of various programmes concerning Youth Exchange, Pakistan Boy Scouts and Pakistan Girls Guide Associations. The youth selection criterion was briefly discussed by the committee with regard to provincial/regional levels.
The committee desired to boost up the exchange of youth programmes with other countries, especially the neighbouring countries, as well as to give preference to the youth at the age between 15 to 21 years.
A batch of at least 25 members may be selected for each programme, instead of huge number of youth, to save the public money. The Girl Guide selection may be made on merit and their awareness programme may also be arranged through public representative at each level. It was also directed that the Ministry of IPC may approach Pemra to give suitable time for universal campaign for promotion of Girls Guide and Boys Scouts in the country.
The meeting was attended by Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Begum Tahira Bukhari, Sabiha Nazir, Siraj Muhammad Khan, Saeed Ahmed Khan Manais, Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, Maulana Amir Zaman MNAs, Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada and senior officers from the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination.
