"Ask the Interior Minister about it," former president Asif Ali Zardari responded when a reporter asked about the Rangers' raid on the home of his close aide Anwar Majeed in the early hours of Sunday.
Speaking to the media during his visit to the Quaid-e-Azam's mausoleum on his birth anniversary, Zardari said "Yes, we have ties with Anwar. There is no denial."
"I have relations with Anwar Majeed. As for what happened with him and why it happened, ask the Interior Minister about it."
A huge cache of arms was recovered from inside the house in Defence when the Rangers entered to arrest Anwar Majeed, according to Rangers officials. Two security guards present at the residence were also taken into custody.
Zardari said he had been undergoing medical treatment in London and had travelled to Pakistan with permission from doctors.
The co-chairperson of the Pakistan People's Party, which is headed by his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said he would talk about his party's four demands on Tuesday, December 27, the ninth anniversary of the assassination of his wife Benazir Bhutto, who was chairperson of the PPP. The party's demands are appointment of a full-fledged foreign minister, passage of the opposition's bill seeking investigation into the Panamagate scam, formation of a parliamentary committee on national security and implementation of the resolution passed during a multi-party conference on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) held in May last year.
He said he was certain Dr Asim Hussain, another of his close allies, will receive justice. He said he remains in contact with Asim Hussain and his lawyers.
