Sindh governor appointment: assistance sought on maintainability of petition
Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Thursday asked the petitioner to assist the court on the point as to how his petition against former chief justice Supreme Court Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui as the Sindh governor was maintainable before the LHC.
The petitioner, Javed Iqbal Jaferi submitted that Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui was not qualified to be elected as a Member of the National Assembly and as such could not be appointed as a governor. He also submitted that the governor is of 79-year-old and the constitution does not accept any appointment in the service of Pakistan in that age group. He asked the court to set aside the appointment of Saeed-uz-Zaman as the Sindh governor.
