Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has introduced information system to provide job opportunities to its pass-outs. TEVTA pass-outs can give their details to get jobs. TEVTA has started Skilled Labour Market Information System (SLMIS) from March this year. Presently, CVs of 2,82,450 trainees are available for recruitment. Similarly, employers are regularly posting available jobs.
Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh was addressing the officers to review the progress of SLMIS here Tuesday at TEVTA Secretariat. Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that SLMIS is being appreciated by national and multi-national organizations. Now, NAVTTC has also introduced similar labour market information systems in other provinces. 32367 companies have been registered on Skilled Labour Market Information System (SLMIS). 400-500 jobs remain available both within country and abroad and the number is increasing with each passing day. The facility of free registration is available for all pass-outs of technical & vocational institutes of TEVTA and employers on this job web portal so that unemployed skilled youth may find suitable job opportunities.
Chairperson TEVTA further said that this system will help to reduce unemployment in the fight against poverty and enable the skilled youth of Punjab to contribute towards socio-economic development of the country. SLMIS developed by TEVTA Punjab will provide key information on Punjab's labour market including market trends, skill training opportunities in different trades & technologies, data of passing out students and job seekers as well as vacancies for skilled personnel in the industry, he concluded.
