Muttahaida Quami Movement (MQM)-Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar on Tuesday submitted his reply in the Sindh High Court (SHC) during hearing of a petition calling for a ban on the party. In his reply, Sattar said following the August 22 speech, MQM-Pakistan had ended its ties with the party's founder. Sattar added that even the veto power of the party's founder had been eliminated.
The MQM-Pakistan leader further said the party's parliamentarians in the National and provincial assemblies had condemned the August 22 speech of the party founder and the impression that MQM-Pakistan had any association with London was not correct. There is no justification of MQM parliamentarians resigning, Sattar said in the reply. He added that it was against party policy for any member to issue anti-Pakistan statements.
According to Sattar, a ban on the party was an attempt to harass or blackmail it, which is why the petition should be dismissed. The petition filed in the SHC calls for a ban on the MQM, stating that on August 22 when the party founder made his anti-state speech he was facilitated by party leaders. The petitioner added that the MQM wanted to break Pakistan. "Farooq Sattar has taken up the party leadership to avoid legal action. All of the leaders have vowed allegiance to the founder for life."
