Despite tall claims regarding preventive measures by Islamabad Police, increasing crime rate is fast becoming a major concern for citizens of the federal capital leading to a sense of insecurity among them, as seven cases of robbery, five cases of auto theft and one case of murder were reported to various police stations during the last week. According to crime statistics obtained by Business Recorder on Saturday, various police stations situated in the jurisdiction of the federal capital registered 21 cases of dishonoured cheque.
During the week under review, Karachi Company and Sabzi Mandi police stations remained top the list of the stations for registering most of the cases. Karachi Company Police Station registered three cases of robbery. Imran Shah of Sector G-9 of the federal capital lodged a complaint with the Karachi Company Police Station that accused Azhar Iqbal and Javed Iqbal snatched mobile and cash from him while posing themselves as officials of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Another victim, Faisal Nazir Abbasi belonging to Sector G-9/2 informed the same police station that four unknown armed robbers broke into his house and snatched cash, computerised national identity cards (CNICs) and other necessary documents at gunpoint.
During the same period, Rashid Mehmood, a resident of Sector G-9/2, lodged a complaint with Karachi Company Police Station that unknown thieves stole 10 Tolas (120 grams approximately) of gold and cash from his house.
During the last week, Sabzi Mandi Police Station registered one case each of robbery, auto theft and dishonoured cheque. Auto thieves stole a car (IDD-3147) of Abid Iqbal, parked in front of his house at Sector I-10/1. In another incident, four armed robbers stormed into the house of Zia Ullah at Sector I-10/1 and snatched cash, gold ornaments and mobile phone at gunpoint.
Another victim, Gul Sher lodged a complaint with the Secretariat Police Station that his two cheques and CNIC have been stolen from his house, and he suspects that accused Ramzan might be involved in this theft. During the period, Shalimar Police Station registered five cases of fake bank cheques and one case of murder. Zohaib Ahmad lodged a complaint with the Shalimar Police Station that accused had killed his servant Kaleem Nawaz. Industrial Area, Ramna and Sihala police stations registered one case each of auto theft while one case of robbery was also reported to the women police station.
