The Karachi Port handled 180,204 tonnes of cargo comprising 151,401 tonnes of import cargo and 28,803 tonnes of export cargo including 5,448 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday The total import cargo of 151,401 tonnes comprised of 25,602 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,639 tonnes of general cargo; 40,604 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 25,835 tonnes of coal; 11,827 tonnes of DAP; 2,942 tonnes of soda ash and 74,556 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,803 tonnes comprised of 25,737 tonnes of containerised cargo; 171 tonnes of general cargo and 2,895 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,448 containers comprising of 2,224 containers import and 3,224 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 780 of 20's and 722 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 590 of 20's and 521 of 40's loaded containers while 766 of 20's and 413 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Wide India, Kota Kaya, Ital Milione, Cape Marin, High Fidelity, Tian Shan and Han Ren carrying containers; oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Kota Kaya, Wan Hai-501, MT Quetta and Equinox Glory carrying containers, oil tankers and fertiliser respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely APL Coral, KS Adonis, Great K, Le He and Oceanic Pescadores carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday while four ships namely MT Quetta, Lombardia, IVS Windsor and Stove Friend carrying oil tanker, DAP, soda ash and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. Cosco Fukuyama, Chemway Arrow, MT Lahore and Alpine Meadow carrying containers and oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Thursday while five vessels viz. Al Abdali, Smart Sail, Lia M, Bunga Lucerne and CT Confidence carrying containers, oil tanker, canola and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 81,407 tonnes includes 25,932 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,800 tonnes of LPG; 6,436 tonnes of palm oil; 5,811 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 3,150 tonnes of chemical and 37,278 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 56,211 tonnes includes 2,189 tonnes of cement; 1,848 tonnes of rice and 52,174 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,708 containers comprising of 1,962 containers import and 2,746 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Silvana and MV Lime Galaxy carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Genoa and MT Volar carrying containers and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Genoa, CV MSC Silvana, MV Diamond Sea, MV Hoanya Wisdom, MV Cretan Wave, MV Lime Galaxy, MT Volar and MT New Naxos currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, sunflower seeds, chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely MV Thai Binh Bay, MV BBC Luanda, MV Kavo Platanos, MT New Confidence, MT Ibn Sine, MT Bahra, MT New Naxos, MT Shalamar and MT Genie carrying rice, sunflower seeds, project cargo, diesel oil and furnace oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were two vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Corneille and CV CT Confidence carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday. There were seven ships namely CV Maersk Innoshima, ER Tian Ping, CV MSC Chicago, CV MSC Rita, MV Pingn An Song, MT Globe Tanya and MT Poloma carrying containers, LPG, general cargo and Palm oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There is one ship namely MT Gaslog Shanghai carrying LNG due to arrive on Friday. There is one ship namely CV TG Poseidon carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
