US Midwest corn bids mixed

Published November 9, 2016 Updated November 9, 2016 12:00am

Spot basis bids for corn were mixed in the US Midwest on Monday, while those for soyabeans were mostly steady to higher, grain merchants said. Corn basis bids were eased by 1 to 5 cents per bushel at elevators and processors near Chicago and in Nebraska. However, bids firmed by 14 cents at a river terminal along the Illinois River as freight barge costs continued to decline due to ample barge supply along the rivers.
CIF soya basis bids were mixed on good supplies and strong export demand. The US Department of Agriculture revealed that 91 percent of corn and 94 percent of soyabeans were harvested in its weekly crop progress report.
