Four matches were played on the opening day of the Season Canola Polo Cup 2016 here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Tuesday. The first match of the day remained very entertaining and high-scoring as Learning Alliance proved too hot for Sapphire and outclassed them by 13-4. Ahmad Zubair Butt was the top scorer for the winning side as he pumped in fabulous five goals while he was ably assisted by Bilal Haye who hammered four goals. For the losing side, Ahsan Javed hit two goals.
After the inaugural match, two-chukker matches were conducted among three teams namely Pebble Breakers, Rijas and Blue Star. In the first match, Pebble Breakers outpaced Blue Star by 7-2 while Rijas outlasted Blue Star by 3-1. After that the winning side of these matches - Pebble Breakers and Rijas - vied against each other. In this clash, Pebble Breakers emerged as victorious after edging out Rijas by 5-2. For Pebble Breakers, Ahmad Ali Tiwana thwarted three goals while Adnan Jalil Azam contributed two. For Rijas, Faisal Shahzad and Abdul Rehman Monnoo hit one goal apiece.
