A seminar to raise awareness regarding Chinese Scholarship opportunities was held at Institute of Business Administration, University of Sindh. Director IBA, Professor Imamuddin Khoso was the chief guest. A huge number of students from different departments participated in the programme.
Amjad Laghari and Ahsan Abro who have recently returned from China after completing their studies were the keynote speakers. The speakers have done MS in Management Sciences from China's Xian Jiaotong University. This event was organized under the platform of Facebook group "Sindhi students in China". The group comprises students who have studied or are studying in China. Director IBA while addressing the audience observed that there were numerous scholarships in different universities of the world, for Pakistani students.
He said that those Scholarships could be availed through Higher Education Commission (HEC) and also through other donor agencies. He motivated students to go for those foreign scholarships opportunities to develop their career. He added that those options were not difficult to avail, if students explored them with zest and zeal. Amjad Laghari, in his keynote lecture explained that China was hugely investing in research sector to know costumer needs and to attract world markets.
Laghari maintained that Chinese universities were getting better ranking day by day and were closely competing with their western counterparts. He added that because of its strong ties and long friendship with Pakistan, China was classifying Pakistan students as top priority.
Laghari informed that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and One Belt One Road were the main parts of the cooperation between China and Pakistan. Laghari emphasised that there were many scholarships being available in China for Masters and PhD Programmes. Chinese universities that offered regular scholarships included Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Xian Jiaotong University and others.
