Choice International Twenty20 Cricket Cup got under way amidst great fun with Winner XI Club defeated Badshah Club by six wickets in the opening match played here at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium Sunday.
There were thundering applauses of the players of all top 16 teams wearing multi-colour-uniform and capacity crowd present during the opening ceremony. Mubashir Ahmad was the chief guest on this occasion.
Sadiq Amin, Member Executive Council KP CCI, Chief Sale Manager Choice International Shafiqur Rehman, a multi-brand product company, which is the main sponsor of the event, CE Winners, Ex-Secretary PDCA Asghar Khan, international cricketers, first class cricketers and good number of spectators were also present.
There was luck-draw wherein young school children enthusiastically participated and won cricketing gears such as bats, uniform, pairs of pads, gloves and other electronic devices put in Choice International.
Speaking on this occasion, Shafiqur Rehman said that the aim and objective of holding the event in which top 16 teams are taking part, is to give much needed competitive exposures to the upcoming players associated with the cricket.
He said the selection of the teams, open trials were conducted and best avail players were short-listed in the first-phase before holding a week-long camp well before the commencement of the Twenty20 Cup. He said Peshawar is considered as a vital unit of Pakistan Cricket Board as far as producing good cricketers.
Mubashir Rehman in his remarks lauded the efforts of Shafiqur Rehman for organising the event wherein top 16 teams involved. He assured the players that all out available resources would be utilise to facilitate them.
Earlier, Peshawar Winner Club skipper won the toss and elected to field first by giving batting to Badshah club.
