The Karachi Port handled 126,349 tonnes of cargo comprising 100,217 tonnes of import cargo and 26,132 tonnes of export cargo including 4,983 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday The total import cargo of 100,217 tonnes comprised of 54,164 tonnes of containerised cargo; 562 tonnes of general cargo; 22,791 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 11,108 tonnes of coal; 5,175 tonnes of DAP; 2,071 tonnes of soyabean meal; 4,437 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 22,517 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,132 tonnes comprised of 13,442 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of general cargo; 6,859 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 1,400 tonnes of iron steel, 5,459 tonnes of talcum powder and 5,731 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,983 containers comprising of 3,760 containers import and 1,223 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,279 of 20's and 1,161 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 79 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 430 of 20's and 96 of 40's loaded containers while 101 of 20's and 250 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely Tiger Harmony, Draco Ocean, Glovis Cosmos and Agia Filothei carrying chemical, vehicle and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Alexandria Bridge, Osaka Tower, Tiger Harmony, Hermione and Aditya carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths. There are two ships namely Alexandria Bridge and Asprouda carrying containers and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Saturday.
There were two vessels viz. Al Farahidi and Lissy Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while three vessels viz. Hamburg Bay, MSC Imma and Positive Pioneer carrying containers and vehicles respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 58,478 tonnes includes 33,822 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,302 tonnes of LPG; palm oil; 3,989 tonnes of canola seeds; 7,600 tonnes of chemical; 365 tonnes of project cargo and 11,400 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 13,469 tonnes includes 3,969 tonnes of cement and 9,500 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,100 containers comprising of 600 containers import and 500 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely MV Bos Anggel, MV Bonanza YR and MT Gas Esco carrying cement, canola seeds and LPG respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely CV Mehuin and MV Industrial Edge carrying containers and project cargo respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Mehuin, MV Bos Anggel, MV Industrial Edge, MV Bonanza YR, MV As-olivia, MT Gas Esco and MT Bneider currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, canola seeds, chemical, diesel oil and LPG respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as nine ships namely MV Rainbow Lucky, MV Diamond Sea, MV Hoanya Wisdom, MT New Confidence, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Ibn Sine, MT Bahra, MT New Naxos and MT Genie carrying steel coil, cement, rice, diesel oil and furnace oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were six vessels viz. CV San Francisco, CV Hansa Africa, MV Diamond Sea, MV Rainbow Lucky, MT Cretan Wave and MT Mehmet carrying containers, cement, steel coil, seeds and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were eight ships namely CV MSC Silvana, CV MSC Charleston, CV MSC Maeva, MV Zi Jing Song, MT Al-Kharasaah, MT Black Pearl, MT Meditenamean and MT Shalamar carrying containers, project cargo, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There is one ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday. There is one ship namely CV Newark carrying containers due to arrive on Sunday.
