Karachi and Peshawar Green entered into the final after securing first and second position in the league round of the four teams' battle of the All-Pakistan Women Invitational Twenty20 Cricket Tournament being played here at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium Friday.
Chief City Police Officer Tahir Khan was chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the match the players of Karachi, Mardan, Peshawar White and Peshawar Green were introduced to him. Organising Secretary of the tournament Amjad Aziz Malik, officials and players were also present.
Karachi skipper won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 148 runs for the loss of four wickets with a brilliant batting by Najia Alivi who struck a graceful half-century 59 runs including five boundaries and one six, opener Khurana Sajjad made another cracking 46 runs and Ayesha Malik scored an unbeaten knock of 21 runs. For Mardan Sadia claimed two wickdets, Samra and Yousra got one wicket.
In reply to Mardan bundled out for 67 runs witgh Rubab made 14 runs none of the other batter could cross the double figures. For Karachi Yusra Amir claimed four wickets for just 10 runs, Aysha got two for 16 runs and Anusha Nasir grabbed two for 17 runs while Shabnam took one wicket. Thus Karachi won the match by 81 runs.
In the second match Peshawar Green defeated Peshawar White to qualify for the final. Peshawar White skipper Salma won the toss and elected to field first. Peshawar Green set-up 137 runs for the loss of eight wickets after playing the allotted 20 overs. Ayesha scored 40 runs including three towering sixes and a boundary. She also got the honour of hitting seven sixes so far in the tournament. Nousheen made 28 runs and Salma Faiz scored 11 runs. For Peshawar White Mahnoor Naeem claimed three wickets, Mahnoor Aftab, Salma and Neelam got one wicket each.
In reply, Peshawar White bundled out for 31 runs. Their stars batter Salma and Momina gone without score, none of the other batter could stand in front of the Peshawar Green bowlers. Hira scored only 11 runs. For Peshawar Green Samreen, Hira claimed two wickets each while Sana Liaqat, Nousheen and Kiran got one wicket each. Thus Peshawar Green won the match by 106 runs.
