Provincial Doctors' Association (PDA) has asked Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for removing of lacunas from Medical Teaching Institutions Act 2015 and for this they had submitted a formal written application with the later.
According to the letter written by PDA president Dr Amir Taj Khan, the Association has demanded to ensure the decision of the Supreme Court on superannuation age of 60 years for all employees and members of the Board of Governors (BoG) and making all recruitment on permanent, merit and zonal bases.
The PDA has also called for granting health professional allowance to all employees of Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs) and increase in the posts of medical officers and senior registrars in all MTIs hospitals, and adhering to the rules of PMDC in recruitment of doctors and provision of financial assistance to the employees of MTIs.
Similarly, the salaries of senior doctors, senior registrars, assistant professors, associate professors and professors should also be increased like the salaries of medical and hospital directors. The doctors have further demanded the fixation of maximum salary of nursing directors, chief pharmacists, human resource directors and different managers at Rs 80,000/- per month and their CP fund should be converted into GP Fund.
PDA president through his letter has also demanded for restoration of the former procedure of the vacations of MTI employees, construction of flats for their accommodation, arrangement for suitable security and posting of management cadre doctors on administrative posts in MTIs.
The doctors have also demanded the release of the agenda of the meeting of Board of Governors on the website to bring transparency in the decisions. The Association has also called for the withholding of the unnecessary recruitment of managers, ward clerk, assistant manager, junior managers and other unnecessary posts to minimise loss to public exchequer and arrest the difficulties of patients.
The PDA has also called for guaranteeing the provision of free treatment in all MTIs and ensuring of all modern facilities including CT Scan, MRI, Digital X-ray, 24/7 service of ultrasound, provision of separate ultrasound facility, pharmacy shop, surgical shop, and laboratory at Gynea ward.
The PDA has also demanded the restoration of filter clinic, fracture clinic, children clinic and chest clinic in the casualty of the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and filling of the 69 vacant posts of the medical officers in the emergency of the hospital as soon as possible to provide better and timely medical facilities to the people.
The Association has warned the government for the resolution of the problems of employees and patients, otherwise, they will be justified in staging protest and in case of any untoward incident, the provincial government will be responsible.
