'Implementation of reforms for responsible media through PEMRA'
KARACHI: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Tuesday that reforms are being made for a responsible electronic media, which will be implemented through PEMRA laws.
Addressing the session in the Senate, the Information Minister said that strategies are being formulated to stop violation of PEMRA laws.
She said, the Pakistani media enjoys freedom, and added, rules in the media should be self-governing.
"We are responsible to safeguard national norms and values," she said, and added, "The masses want a responsible media."
"A code of conduct must be followed in the media," she said.
Medical facilities are available to all PTV workers and their families, assured Awan.
On the killing of journalists, she said, FIRs of all murder cases of journalists have been registered.
