Energy crisis to be resolved on priority: Dr Firdous

 SIALKOT: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday said the government was committed to resolve energy crisis on priority basis and several steps had already been taken in this regard.

She expressed these views in live programme of FM-101.

Dr Firdous said the construction of new dams and laying of new pipes for ensuring uninterrupted gas supply was top on the agenda of the government to resolve energy crisis.

The minister said unscheduled loadshedding of electricity and gas load management had created problems for the business community of Sialkot, adding steps had been taken for addressing the issue to keep the industrial wheel in motion.

"Undoubtedly, the unscheduled loadshedding is creating serious economic problems for industrial workers, especially the daily wagers, besides affected the daily chores of common man," she said.

Dr Firdous said the current issues of electricity and gas was temporary while the government was utilizing all-out resources to cope with the problems.

The minister urged the people that they should demonstrate patience, adding that the PPP leadership was fully aware and had concentrated for resolving the issues on a permanent basis.

Firdous reiterated that the PPP leadership was mobilizing available resources for bringing the country out of crisis.

Replying to a caller, the information minister said the concept of setting up FM-93 Radio Station in the export-oriented city was to present current affairs and news programmes as there are 124 union councils in Sialkot district of which 94 are rural union councils.
