Senator Mir Kabir Ahmed Mohammad Shahi chaired the meeting of the committee. The committee discussed the matters related to Sindh and federal government.
The committee recommended that the federal government must provide a significant development budget to Sports Ministry for the promotion of sports in the country and renovation of sports buildings and rehabilitation of playgrounds. The Chairman observed that funds for development programme of the Ministry were released near the end of financial year which led to its misuse.
Secretary IPC, Muhammad Ali Gardezi gave a brief on the upcoming annual budget proposals for financial year 2016-2017 and its utilisation in current financial year. He said the federal government has taken certain measures in promoting sports in the country. On one point, he said that the government has appointed two educational attaché in China and UK. Father of Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai is an educational attaché in Birmingham. The committee also expressed its serious concerns over growing incidents of fake domiciles submitted for employments in federal government. While reviewing the applicants having Balochistan domicile, the committee observed that employment seekers in federal government have been misusing the fake Balochistan domicile which need to be stopped. Verification of each candidate domicile from district and provincial government of Balochistan should be done.
Sardar Ahmed Azam Khan Musa said provincial quota could not been adopted as cricket control board headquarter is located in Lahore. Internship program should be started according with NFC Award.
Director General Pakistan Sports, Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera informed the committee members that the Ministry of Sports is facing shortage of funds and it has even no fund available for cash award of the players. He further revealed that boxing gyms in Quetta and Karachi are under construction out of five such gyms. National cricket stadium at Narowal would be completed in 2017. He further said that PC-I for establishment of new cricket coaching centres, hockey turf (Swat), sports complex (Mardan), Residential Academy (Islamabad), football ground (Multan) and new projects Jinnah Complex (Islamabad) are under process of approval.
