KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Thursday presided a high level meeting at CM House here in connection with 5-kilometre road schemes for members of Sindh Assembly.
According to a statement on Friday the Chief Minister directed the officers of Planning and Development Department, Finance Department and other related departments to finalise the schemes pertaining to construction of roads, under 5-kilometres per MPA programme particularly for the remaining 47 MPAs out of 169 MPAs of the province.
He added that almost 120 to 122 MPAs have given their proposed schemes which have been processed and discussed for which execution process is to be started.
Sindh Chief Minister directed that the schemes of remaining MPAs be obtained early so as to process and initiate work simultaneously.
He said that are certain MPAs of urban areas, viz Karachi and Hyderabad, who are interested in other schemes like hospitals, public parks, libraries etc.
The meeting also decided that senior MPA of every district will head the District Development Committees while deputy commissioners will be the secretaries of respective district development committees.
Earlier, the meeting was informed that it was visualised that the schemes of less than two kilometres of roads be dropped, thus schemes of roads of 107 MPAs were considered.
Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the provincial government will complete the on-going schemes, as a huge amount has already been spent on those schemes. Besides, the roads affected by heavy rains will also be completed by the provincial government, he said.
Sindh Finance Minister informed that out of Rs 111.00 billion ADP, more than Rs 25 billion have been spent on rescue, relief and rehabilitation of rain affected people of the province.
He said that 50% funds have already been released for on-going schemes and keeping in view the progress, more funds will be released.
He stressed that monitoring committees of P&D Department should regularly check those schemes.
The meeting was attended among others by Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas, Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) Israr Malik, Secretary Works and Service M. Arif Khan, Special Secretary to C.M. Hafeezullah Abbasi, Special Secretary to C.M., Dr. Atta Muhammad Panhwar, officers of Planning and Development Department, Finance Department and others.
